Global real estate exchange, data and communication platform Cloudscraper has appointed HSBC's former global head of real estate finance as CEO.

Matthew Webster is currently chief financial officer of the London-based proptech firm, after leaving the banking giant last year to join Cloudscraper. He becomes CEO with immediate effect.

Prior to HSBC, Webster held senior real estate roles at Hypo Real Estate, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Fitch Ratings. He is a chartered financial analyst and a former chairman of CREFC Europe.

Cloudscraper chairman and founder Moses Gottlieb said: 'I am delighted that Matthew has accepted the chief executive office position. It will allow me to focus on strategic initiatives which are so vital for a company with global ambitions like ours.'

Cloudscraper’s platform launched in February 2018 and has already attracted more than 260 global organisations, according to the firm. The start-up describes itself as an 'institutional real estate exchange', linking commercial real estate trading opportunities, stakeholders, their advisors, equity and debt capital.

The company, headquartered in London with offices in Dublin, Frankfurt and Tel Aviv, is now preparing to roll out the Cloudscraper Exchange in global markets.

'I am honoured to take on this additional responsibility with the company and look forward to seeing the implementation of the platform in new markets. Since joining Cloudscraper we have been assembling a world class management team to build upon our early success and prepare for our global scaling,' Webster said.
